Four high interest passages for close reading and comprehension throughout the month of March. Everything you need is included!
Passage topics include: March Madness, St. Patrick’s Day, Women’s History Month, and Cesar Chavez.
Each passage includes:
three days of response pages: day 1 focuses on main idea and details, day 2 focuses on vocabulary and text structure, and day 3 focuses on theme, author craft and inferencing.
an extension page with links to find out more about the topic and a quick write activity
digital slide versions for all passages, responses, and extensions.

The format is very student friendly with the larger print and the layout of the questions is done in a way that feels comfortable for my students who are often overwhelmed by text. I love the topics and the division and focus of the responses to the text. For my students it is exactly what they need and there is even a reward at the end in the form a surprise QR code. A very well put together resource. I used the print version and we read and discussed the articles as a whole group activity because my students independent reading levels are very low. The Elementary Atelier –
I sent this as part of our distance learning packet during quarantine. All the feedback I’ve had from parents has been positive. It’s something my kids have been able to pick up and do without direct instruction, which is super important to me right now. The kids have enjoyed doing the readings and associated activities.
