This writer's workshop unit has everything you need to introduce and develop procedural/how to writing in your classroom!
Your students will write specific step by step directions for their procedural writing.
This unit includes:
*10 step by step lessons to teach procedural writing. Each lesson includes a mini lesson, independent writing, and shared writing. Anchor chart pieces, mini-anchor charts for students' writer's notebooks, conferencing labels and sticky notes, goal setting pages are included.
Mini lessons include:
*What is procedural writing?
*Select a topic and gather information.
*Determine the steps in your writing.
*Determine the format of your writing.
*Using vocabulary that is specific to your topic.
*Using transition words.
*Using pictures to support your writing.
*Give warnings and tips that you have learned from experience.
*Writing in the present tense.
*Writing a conclusion.
*FIVE extra mini lessons included: using a dictionary or the internet for misspelled words, using a thesaurus, shades of meaning, interjections, procedural writing checklist.
